JAMES EVERETT DIES OF HEART FAILURE

James Everett, in his seventy ninth year died suddenly at the home ofhis daughter, Mrs. Edith Killebrew, 327 East Eighth Street, Tuesdayevening at 10:10 o’clock. He was talking to his daughter at the timehe as stricken with death. Mr. Everett had been in good health,considering his years, and there was no warning that his death wasnear, as he was able to be around as usual. Mr. Everett had not beensteadily employed the past eight years, but had done yard work forsome of the Middletown families. Prior to that he had worked at theRyrie wholesale grocery store, for about 15 years.

Mr. Everett was born in Crab Orchard, Ky., April 11, 1856. He wasbrought to Illinois by his parents when an infant. He was married toMiss Nellie Britton in March, 1889. Thirteen children, born to thecouple of whom ten are living. They are Mrs. Mae Graham, Mrs. HelenSimpson, Mrs. Edith Killebrew, Mrs. Dorothy Williams, Mrs. NettieLangford, Mrs. Ethel Hellrung, all of Alton, Mrs. Eleanor Whittingtonof St. Louis, Mrs. Harriet Dickeson of Quincy, Charles Everett ofMedora, and Hary Everett of Delhi. There are also 19 grandchildren.

He had lived in Alton many years and was well known here.

The funeral will be held Friday at 10:30 a.m. from the residence, 3421Badley Avenue with the Rev. Earl Jensen officiating. Burial will be inOakwood Cemetery. The body will be moved from the Streeper funeralhome to the residence at 5 p.m. today.
