A quiet wedding took place in this city last evening, Mr. H. W.Chamberlain, the popular druggist, and the lovely and accomplishedMiss Anna Louise Homeyer, of St. Louis, formerly of Upper Alton, beingthe happy pair. Rev. J. Fisher, of the Unitarian church, officiated.The ceremony took place at the residence of Dr. Charles Davis,brother-in-law of the bride, and was witnessed by a small circle ofguests and relatives of the bride and groom. We join the many friendsand acquaintances of Mr and Mrs. Chamberlain in wishing them unalloyedhappiness and prosperity in their new relation.

Mrs. H. Chamberlain Dies at Hospital

Mrs. Louis Chamberlain, wife of H. W. Chamberlain; died Tuesdayafternoon at St. Joseph’s hospital, aged 71. Mrs. Chamberlain’s deathfollowed an illness which had made necessary a surgical operationthree weeks ago. She failed to show improvement after the operationand the end came yesterday.

Mrs. Chamberlain was born in St. Louis but spent the greater part ofher life in Alton, where the was married in 1882. She leaves besideher husband, a retired druggist, two sons, Leslie and HaroldChamberlain, and one daughter, Mrs. E. G. Smith, all of Alton. Besidesshe leaves four sisters, Mrs. Charles Davis of Alton, Misses Dora andFlora Homeyer and Mrs. Noel Poepping of St. Louis and one brother,Herman Poepping of New Orleans.

Mrs. Chamberlain was a woman of a retiring disposition and highcharacter, devoted to her home and her family. She was beloved by allwho knew her well. The funeral will be held from the family home, 2114Central avenue, Thursday morning at 10:30 o’clock and services will beconducted by Rev. J. M. Warner of the First Baptist church. Burialwill be in City cemetery.
