Peter Glassbrenner, of Newbern is a guest at the home of Conductor andMrs. Bruce Rintoul on State street. Mr. Glassbrenner is in the employof the Alton Broom Company and has just returned from a two weeks tripextending to Cairo. He sold $500 worth of Alton made brooms in Cairoand towns between here and Cairo which is a remarkable good showingfor him, as well at a boost for the Alton Broom factory.

Dies at Age 78
Peter F. Glassbrenner, former realty dealer and groceryman, diedSunday evening after a long period of ill health. He was 78 years old.
Born in Jersey County, Oct. 19, 1857, he had been a resident Alton formany years and until a break in his health several years ago had beenin the real estate business with offices in what is now the Weadbuilding on East Broadway.
He was of a genial disposition and got much enjoyment from visitingwith friends and business acquaintances in the downtown area when hewas in business there.
His wife, the former Lorena Nelson, died Nov. 25, 1914. His parentswere the late Mr. and Mrs. John Glassbrenner.
Survivors are two sons, Ray and Emmet Glassbrenner, two brothers,William of Alton, and John of St. Louis and seven sisters. The sistersare Mrs. Ellen Wade, Mrs. Barbara Boedy, Mrs. Mary Grenzebach, Mrs.Nettie Toupno, Mrs. Sadie Starr, Mrs. Bruce Rintoul and Mrs. JosephKohler, all of Alton, and a granddaughter.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 2:30 p. m., from the Bauer & Hoehnfuneral home. Burial will be in City cemetery. Friends may call at thefuneral home to view the body.

Funeral Services
The Rev. Edgar J. Vance, pastor of First Presbyterian Church,conducted funeral rites this afternoon for Peter F. Glassbrenner,retired realty dealer whose death occurred Sunday evening. Serviceswere held at 2:30 o’clock at the Bauer & Hoehn funeral home. Burialwas in the family lot in City cemetery.
Miss Joyce Cook at the organ played “Consolation” by Mendelsohn at thebeginning of the service and afterwards, “Largo” by Handel and “TheLast Chord” by Arthur Sullivan.
Three nephews, Leonard Glassbrenner, Paul Glassbrenner and RupertRintoul and William Schnurr, Harry Watson and Myron Hansel werepallbearers.
