Langford

C. William (Bill) Langford, 54, 2409 Salu St., a resident of Alton for40 years, died Friday at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Langford, a custodian at Thomas Jefferson School for the past sixyears, was born in Winfield, Mo., Aug. 27, 1912, to Mrs. and the late.Mr. Syrus B. Langford.

An Army veteran of World War II who served in Europe, he was marriedto the former Rosalie Newcomb Jan. 22, 1947, in Alton.

Survivors besides his widow are his mother, Mrs. Maud Langford ofAlton; two daughters, Mrs. Nancy Lynne Schlobohm of Alton and Mrs.Beverly Ann Miller of Assumpter, S.C.; three brothers, Edward and Otisof Alton and Marvin of Belle Flower, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. MarjorieFay of Alton; and one grandchild. A daughter, Sandra K. Maul, precededhim in death in 1962.

Friends may call at the Smith Funeral Home in Alton after 1 p.m.Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at thefuneral home with the Rev. W. Freeman Privett officiating. Burial willbe in Upper Alton Cemetery.
