Notes
- Reasons it is thought that Daniel was Francis Casteel's son:
1) Lived a short distance from Francis in Knox Co., TN. (Source -CASTEEL mailing list)
2) According to the 1806 Tax List, Francis had 440 acres of land.(Source - "Casteel Family Research" by Jean CASTEEL Brown)
According to the 1808 Tax List, Francis only had 39 acres (Source -"Casteel Family Researach" by Jean CASTEEL Brown) which reinforces thebelief that Francis gave several children an early inheritance.
3) Francis' will stated "the balance of my children I have portionedthem of heretofore."
4) Daniel and Rody traveled with other of Francis' children to IL.
5) Daniel's son, Francis, when interviewed for an article in "Historyof Pike County, Ilinois 1880" stated that he (Francis) was born inKnox County, TN, in 1822, the son of Daniel Casteel, who settled inBond Co., IL, where he died in 1834.
