Mrs. M. Redmond
Dies at Age of 84
Funeral Rites Wednesday Afternoon
Mrs. Mary Redmond, 84, a life-long resident of Alton and the lastmember of the family of the late Mr. and Mrs. August Grenzbach, diedunexpectedly Sunday at 7 p.m. at the home of her son, Fred Redmond,908 Washington avenue. She was the widow of William Redmond, who died25 years ago. Her death was due to infirmities of age.
Mrs. Redmond was born in the North Side and with exception of the pasteight years when she made her home with her son, had spent all of herlife in the North Side and the Bluff street area. She had resided for45 years on Bluff street.
Surviving in addition to her son, Fred, are another son, William, andthree daughters, Mrs. John Simon, Mrs. Guy L. Saunders and Mrs. W.B.Reilly, all of Alton. She also leaves eight grandchildren and threegreat-grandchildren. Three of her grandsons are members of the armedforces. They are Private First Class William Reilly of the army,Private First Class Robert De Grand of the U.S. Air Corps, and PrivateJack Redmond of the U.S. Marine Corps.
Mrs. Redmond was a member of Evangelical Church and pastor of thechurch, the Rev. O.W. Heggemeier, will officiate at funeral ritesWednesday at 2 p.m. at Bauer & Hoehn funeral home. Burial will be inthe Greenwood cemetery. The body is at the funeral home where friendsmay call after 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Burial was in the family lot in Greenwood cemetery.
Miss Betty-Abi McDow sang, “Face to Face” and “The Old Rugged Cross”.Organist was Miss Emma Joesting.
Pallbearers were Guy Saunders, John Simon, Louis Grenzebech, WilliamReilly, Fred Rust and Wesley Hilt.
