Notes

  • "Grandpa Frank D. Chamberlain was married to Laura Annetta Daniels. They built a house on the west side of Chippewa Lake and farmed.Frank I's farm was about 700 feet North of Charles Fitch's Lake ViewFarm and on the same side of the road.  He had a bad drinking problemand drank up this farm, he was a real roustabout in his younger years. He took the alcoholic cure at about age 40 and never drankafterwards.  They were married at a double wedding with his sisterLaura and Uncle Dowd England.  They had two children, C.F. (Fred) andAngeline C. Bissell."  (Taken from a history written by Frank D.Chamberlain, II on December 17, 1987.)  All the time I knew Frank andEtta they lived up the hill from Fred.  As a  young lad I referred tothem as Grandpa and Grandma up-the-hill, and Fred and Ethelwin asGrandpa and Grandma down-the-hill.  Frank was a real nice person andall of us grand and great grand children thought highly of him.  Inever heard him utter a cross word.  He was an ardent pipe smoker, andkept his pipes in a drawer of a small stand that was next to his chairand his tobacco in a old china "Darkee Lady" humidor that sets uponthe Chamberlain Bookcase in my living room.  He gave this to my dad,Frank II, and he passed it on to me.
Frank and Etta raised George Daniels after his father, FrederickDaniels, died in Tennessee
