BUNKER HILL

Robert R. Watkins Jr., 68, died at 12:50 p.m. Sunday, March 11, 2007,at Alton Memorial Hospital.

Born Dec. 9, 1938, in Alton, he was a son of Robert R. and Geneva(Sorgea) Watkins Sr. His mother died when he was 18 months old and hewas reared by his father and stepmother, Pearl (Simpson) Watkins.

He and the former Judy A. Schalk were married on June 21, 1969, inBunker Hill. She preceded him in death June 2, 2006.

The U.S. Army veteran was employed at Owens Machine Shop in Godfrey asan expediter and retired in 1998. He also owned and operated hisbusiness, Wood Toys and Things.

Survivors include a daughter, Angela Watkins of Dorsey; a son anddaughter-in-law, Robert S. and Jessica Watkins of Dorsey; sixgrandchildren; two sisters and their husbands, Joy and Don Helens ofBristolville, Ohio, and Linda and Larry Roberts of Godfrey; a brotherand his wife, Roger and Saralee Watkins of Alton;
and his special friend, Betty Simpson of Bunker Hill.

Besides his wife and mother, he was preceded in death by his fatherand stepmother, Pearl Graham.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jacoby-Wise FuneralHome in Bunker Hill, where Chaplain Bax Maggert will officiate atservices at 10 a.m. Thursday.

Burial will be at Bunker Hill City Cemetery; Memorials may be made toTIP Hospice or 5As Humane Society.
