- Harold ‘Hal’ Chamberlain
GODFREY
Harold L. “Hal” Chamberlain, 81, died at 4:58 a.m. Sunday, June 10,2007, at Alton Memorial Hospital. Born June 16, 1925, in Alton, he wasthe son of the late Harold Wade and Katherine Mary (Lindley)Chamberlain.
On Nov. 2, 1945, in Reno, Nev., he married the former Joyce Reddick.She survives.
A U.S. Navy World War II veteran, he was the music director at NorthJunior High School from 1956 until his retirement in 1984. He was acharter member of the Godfrey Lions Club and was a member of the FirstUnited Methodist Church of Godfrey.
He was a piano tuner for many years , the choir director at CherryStreet Baptist Church for five years and the choir director for 15years at the First United Methodist Church.
In addition to his wife, surviving are three daughters andsons-in-law, Sharon and Jim Reichow of Moraga , Calif., Linda andHarvey Hartmann of Martinez, Calif., and Ginger and Roger Becker ofGodfrey; two sons and daughters-in-law, Roger and Jan Chamberlain ofColumbia, Ill., and Hal and
Michelle Chamberlain of Brighton ; six dearly loved grandchildren,Kristin Butler and her husband, Jay, of Pleasant Hill, Calif., JessicaGryzbek and her husband, Joseph, of Rescue, Calif., Craig Becker andSam Becker, both of Godfrey, Clay Chamberlain of Brighton and JordanChamberlain of Columbia; a brother, Homer “Bob” Chamberlain of EastAlton; and a sister, Katherine “Kay” Lawenda of Garden Grove, Calif.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p .m . Wednesday at Gent Funeral Homein Alton. Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First UnitedMethodist Church of Godfrey. The Rev. Don Long will officiate.
