Mrs. Helen C. Tingley of 107 Gerson, wife of S. Ray Tlngley, a memberof the firm of Pohlman-Tingley Insurance & Real Estate Co., died at 3a. m., today in St. Anthony’s Infirmary following a prolonged illness.
Born in Alton, Sept. 4, 1899, she was a daughter of Frank Miller andthe late Mrs. Miller. All her life had been spent in the North Side.With the exception of five years following her marriage in June of1926, all her married life had been in the Gerson street home.
Mrs. Tingley was graduated from Alton High School and attendedShurtleff College, and was a graduate in piano from the ArmstrongSchool of Music, and had served as church organist at times.
She was a member of Elm Street Presbyterian Church and had been activein women’s organizations of the church, serving as treasurer of themissionary society for a number of years. She also belonged toCarnation Camp of the Royal Neighbors lodge.
Surviving in addition to her husband and father, are two sisters, Mrs.Earl Henderson and Mrs. Kathleen Schwartz, wife of Dr. CharlesSchwartz, Alton.
Funeral rites will be conducted by the Rev. Marshall Rice Tuesday at 2p. m., in Elm Street Presbyterian. Burial will be in Valhalla MemorialPark. The body is at Gent funeral home where friends may call after2:30 p. m. Sunday and until noon Tuesday when it will be moved to thechurch.
